19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
